Giving your rat a bath is usually up to the owners descretion. I bathe mine once in a while and if you do it right the rat can enjoy it. My girls loves baths. And I agree-this woman knows nothing. And not all petshops are bad-the one I work at does not get animals from breeder farms and the animals are vet checked and given a clean bill of health before being sold. My rats are all happy and spoiled. ^_^

lol um shut up i wasnt talking about when she was holding him, i was talking about when she wass bathing him... also Petland = Petstore = Evil i dont listen or care about what anyone that works at a pet store would say to me,....EVERYONE WATCHING THIS VID!!!!Lets just stop hassling one another and leave it at the fact that this chick, Laura Fitzdickhead, has no idea about caring for rats, and just feel good in the fact that you know more than someone that probably got paid to do this....

PEOPLE i own 3 rats, and work at Petland on weekends. RATS NEED BATHS! Yes, I know, I'm not stupid, they groom theirselves but it is a good idea to give your rat a bath like once a month, it would be a very good idea, you don't have to, but you should to help them smell clean and it keeps them healthy and it helps to rinse off any other remaining dirt they might still be carrying, which usually happens sometimes with rats!

Don't bathe your rats, people. Jesus Christ, this woman is a fool.

Why don't you clean the tail?? That's about the only part that the rats don't religiously clean themselves. I sometimes need to wash my boys when their seborrhoea bothers them too much and they hate the baths. But the easy ay is to just put some treats in the water...

My girls were all from pet stores; each from a different store. They were all healthy and have no socializing problems. They were five and six weeks old, and all pet stores I've been have seperate cages for the ratties. I saw one dodgy store, so reported it to th RSPCA. It's fine to buy from a pet store, as long as you know what to look for in a dodgy shop, and what a healthy baby looks like, you can tell how old (approx) they are, etc.
